When Shelli decided to store her baby’s cord blood, she was hoping she would never have to use it. Shelli was pregnant with her third child, and she had not stored her first two children’s cord blood. Things were different this time, since both the baby’s parents were older. This increased the chance of any complications. Also, there was a history of genetic disorders on the father’s side. Shelli decided that banking her baby’s cord blood was necessary. Now, 8 months later, Shelli will be using Max’s own stem cells from his cord blood to help him! Max will be undergoing this treatment in June of 2013. Shelli and AlphaCord will be sharing Max’s story via the AlphaCord blog. Shelli hopes that other parents will see Max’s story and be given hope, and learn why saving their child’s cord blood can possibly help save their life or give them a better quality of life. Stay tuned to our blog for future updates on Max’s journey.
